Dutch Broadway Tank Closure
An initial Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) indicated multiple underground storage tanks (USTs) were likely present at the site. A Phase II ESA was performed which consisted of a geophysical survey to identify subsurface anomalies such as USTs, and collect and analyze soil samples.
The geophysical survey identified at least one anomaly at each site. PWGC investigated each anomaly further and were properly closed in accordance with applicable regulations. Endpoint samples were collected and analyzed to ensure VOCs and SVOCs were not detected after removal.
Contamination was identified in association with one of the USTs. A spill was called in. The contaminated soils were excavated and properly disposed of offsite. PWGC working with the health department and the NYSDEC to administratively close the spill.
