
We are excited to announce that Tim Sommer, E.I.T., Project Engineer, has been elected President of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Long Island Branch (LIB) Younger Member Committee (YMC). Tim now leads a committee dedicated to advancing professional development and engagement for younger civil engineers throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties.
Career Highlights & Impact at PWGC
Since joining PWGC, Tim has contributed to a variety of water resources and marine infrastructure projects, including the design of recharge basin improvements, bulkheads, and marina facilities, collaborating closely with contractors and clients to deliver practical, sustainable environmental engineering solutions. His excellence in teamwork and mentorship was recognized in late 2024 when he received PWGC’s “Ride the Wave” award.
ASCE Long Island YMC: Mission & Member-Led Excellence
The ASCE LIB YMC serves engineers aged 35 and under, aiming to empower local professionals through networking, technical events, outreach, and career development activities across the region.
As President, Tim will guide strategic programming to bring younger members together, enhance visibility of professional resources, and build connectivity with student chapters and industry partners.
