Dewatering of Franklin Hospital North Wing - P.W. Grosser

Dewatering of Franklin Hospital North Wing

We were hired to find a permanent solution to recurrent flooding in a subterranean wing of a Northwell Health hospital

PWGC was selected by Northwell Health to provide professional engineering services to evaluate and recommend a permanent solution for high groundwater and flooding to a subterranean wing of Franklin Hospital in Valley Stream.

This wing was critical to hospital operations because it housed essential medical laboratories and offices. PWGC designed a new groundwater collection system, pump station and force main to convey groundwater to Valley Stream Brook. Since the installation in 2010, there have been no reports of flooding.

PWGC provided the following services to support the dewatering investigation and required engineering efforts:
• Investigation Phase
• Analysis Phase
• Feasibility Phase
• Design Phase
• Construction Phase
