PWGC provided environmental engineering, remediation and construction monitoring for the 56-acre Garvies Point waterfront redevelopment in Glen Cove, New York.
The Garvies Point Waterfront Revitalization Project transformed former industrial properties along Glen Cove Creek into a mixed-use waterfront community. Environmental work included assessment and remediation of parcels associated with the Li Tungsten Federal Superfund site and Captain’s Cove State Superfund site. The redevelopment includes residential, retail and office space, plus 28 acres of waterfront parks and esplanades.
PWGC has played a lead environmental role throughout the Glen Cove waterfront redevelopment, including:
- Environmental site assessment, remediation and regulatory reporting
- Coordination with NYSDEC, USEPA, NYSDOH and NYSDOT
- Development of site-specific remedial goals for restricted-residential use
- Soil and groundwater investigation and modeling
- Preparation of Excavation Work Plans and Quality Assurance Project Plans
- Preparation of Site Dewatering Plans, Health & Safety Plans and Community Air Monitoring Plans
- Joint environmental monitoring during construction
- Coordination among site owners, contractors and regulatory agencies
- Environmental compliance support during construction
PWGC worked with NYSDEC and USEPA to establish site-specific cleanup goals and support the safe redevelopment of the former industrial waterfront. As joint environmental monitor, PWGC continues to coordinate environmental compliance throughout construction.
