Following the recent establishment of the new civil engineering graduate program at Stony Brook University, PWGC President Dr. Paul Grosser has been selected as a member of the university’s newly minted Civil Engineering Advisory Board.
As a board member, Dr. Grosser will play an advisory role in guiding the direction of Stony Brook University’s Department of Civil Engineering. He will work in cooperation with Stony Brook administrators to mold the recently established Civil Engineering Program. The program’s ultimate goal is to compete with the top engineering schools in the country, such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cal Tech and the University of Illinois.
“I have always been a strong supporter of encouraging and developing young people to become civil engineers,” says Grosser. “This program is a great opportunity.”
The research aspect of the program has already been set and Stony Brook University will be strengthening the program through the addition of laboratory space and related equipment for the undergraduate engineering agenda. Future plans include the addition of Masters and PhD engineering programs to allow for more in-depth studies and increase the program’s stature.
To date, interest in the program from interested candidates already far exceeds current capacity. Stony Brook’s engineering program will celebrate its first graduating class in May 2016.

The Department of Civil Engineering at Stony Brook University is pleased to announce the establishment of a new graduate program in Civil Engineering. The newly established graduate program offers Advanced Graduate Certificates, M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering.
